31DC2014 Day 12: Stripes

Hey guys! Second post today, but that’s okay. I have today off, so I knew I’d be playing catch up. I was initially hoping to bank in a few designs, but we’ll see how that goes. Today is stripes, and I ended up on a simple multi-color pin stripe design.

StripesI am absolutely in love with this manicure. It looks so much better than I thought it would, and I’m pretty sad to see it go. But that’s how it works. For this one, I decided to use some new colors I’ve purchased. Over the last two months, I’ve been ignoring new bottles of polish waiting to be cataloged and swatched. So, this is my way of trying to make myself feel better?

They’re all Wet n Wild Megalast colors I picked up from Target. (They had ten colors on sale for $0.84, and I had to pick up five of them!) I started with a neutral pink base called Sugar Coat, then striped in Heatwave (pink/coral), On a Trip (purple), I Need a Refresh-Mint (blue), and Wet Cement (brown). Wet Cement only shows on my ring, middle, and thumb because the other nails were just too narrow.

The stripes are all free hand! They came out wonderful, all thanks to this tip from Simply Nailogical. She puts cuticle oil on her brushes before painting with them. I couldn’t believe the difference it made! I will never be using my brushes without oil again. Such a game changer!

I’m also loving the photos. Definitely going to have to keep trying for this quality again. Have a good Friday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
