I so meant to get this out earlier, but just couldn’t swing it. At least it’s still July when I’m posting this, though! I’ll be honest — I was severely disappointed in this box. I was looking forward to loving it, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.
First up is Juliana. I was hoping this would be more of a coral-pink and be a great summer color. While it is a great summer color and some people will really like it, it is not for me. It’s more of a salmon pink with a pretty shimmer. It’s not an ugly color by any means, but it doesn’t work with my skin tone. My swatch shows four coats (and you can still see my nail line).
Next is Mara. Another one I was excited for — it’s a purple Stardust (textured) and I was happy to add it to my collection. It looks like thick yogurt when applying it and when it dried, almost all of the shimmer disappeared. Another one that’s not for me. This is two coats.
Last of the polish is Alyssa, which is a gorgeous minty green-blue. I love this color and was so excited to get it. The formula was a little thin — weird for Julep — but not a huge problem. The issue? The bristles on my brush were already starting to fray, so application was a pain. I think that’s just an issue for me though. This is two coats.
Julep did release a new product: a cuticle balm! I don’t normally choose add-ons, but had to pick this one up. I’ve been using it since I got it and I like it! It’s slightly greasy, but absorbs pretty quickly into your skin. I dropped it into my purse and use it at work and I can’t say I have a complaint about it. It’s a little more “wet” than other balms I’ve tried, but not as much as an oil.
Oh! What do you think of my nail shape? Too many breaks finally had me trying out coffin nails and I think they’re here to stay. I absolutely love them. Hope you all enjoyed the post and let me know what you think!
